RPA is useful for moving data between older systems that have no API, such as copying order details from a web portal into a legacy ERP screen. UiPath, Automation Anywhere and Microsoft Power Automate are common tools.
The limit is fragility. Because bots follow screens and fixed rules, they can fail when a button moves, a layout changes or an input does not match the expected format. RPA also cannot interpret unstructured content on its own. Many teams now combine it with AI for reading documents and emails, or replace bots with API integrations where the systems support them, since APIs are usually more stable.
