Many operations still depend on people keying data from PDFs and scans into the ERP or CRM. Intelligent document processing, often shortened to IDP, handles varied layouts that template-based tools struggle with and flags missing or inconsistent information instead of passing it on.
For example, a logistics team could have bills of lading and delivery receipts read on arrival, matched to shipments and checked for missing signatures. The limit is that accuracy depends on document quality and variety. Handwriting, poor scans and unusual formats produce uncertain results, so a good design measures confidence and sends low-confidence fields to a person rather than guessing.
